Shinedown stays hot, fresh singles keep landing, and a few new records just hit the rack.

Here we go — the Active Rock lane stays busy this week. Shinedown keeps its grip on the top end, a few fresh singles are pushing their way into rotation, and there are new albums on the street right now that could start feeding the format fast.

On the charts

Shinedown is still setting the pace. As of September 9, “Young Again” hits No. 1 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart, giving the band another major radio win and keeping that song squarely in the center lane at the format.

There is movement north of the border too. Three Days Grace just scored their fourth Billboard Canada Mainstream Rock No. 1 from Alienation, another sign that familiar names with big hooks are still driving heavy airplay right now.

New today

Dead Poet Society drops “Miami For The Weekend,” and it sounds built for late-night rock radio. It arrives September 10 as the final preview of Monarch, with the full album set for October 2.

Spiritbox also came in hot with “Mourning” on September 8. It is the kind of release that can light up the heavier end of the playlist fast, especially with listeners already locked in on the band’s momentum.

Just added

Candlebox is back in the conversation with “I Remember Everything,” due September 25. It is the first new Candlebox music to feature guitarist Peter Klett since 2012, and that alone makes it one to watch as stations line up upcoming adds.

Nonpoint already has a setup in place heading into release week. Earlier this summer, “Is It” opened as a most-added track at Active Rock, and now the band rolls toward the September 18 arrival of The Last Word.

Album drops

September 18 brings a fresh batch of rock and metal releases, including new albums from Anthrax and Emma Ruth Rundle. Even when not every record goes straight to mainstream Active Rock, this is the part of the calendar where new tracks start getting tested and the next wave of singles usually shows its hand.

Coming up

Keep an ear on the next couple of Fridays. With Candlebox lined up for September 25 and Dead Poet Society pointing toward October 2, the pipeline stays full, and that means more new music is about to hit the airwaves in a hurry.

That is the picture right now: proven chart power up top, credible new songs coming in behind it, and enough fresh releases on deck to keep Active Rock sounding current heading into the end of September.
