BIG TOURING & MAJOR VENUE SHOWS

🎸 Bilmuri with Knuckle Puck
📍 Landmark Credit Union Live, Milwaukee — Tuesday, September 15 — Doors 6:00 PM, Show 7:00 PM
Bilmuri brings his genre-blurring mix of alternative rock, post-hardcore, country twang, pop and electronic weirdness to Milwaukee. The Kinda Hard Tour also features Knuckle Puck and Novelists, giving this one a nice mix of melodic punk, post-hardcore and modern metalcore.

🎸 ERRA with Vianova, Chamber, and Resolve
📍 The Sylvee, Madison — Friday, September 18 — Doors 5:30 PM, Show 6:30 PM
ERRA headline one of the week’s heaviest Madison shows with their technical, progressive take on metalcore. Vianova, Chamber, and Resolve keep the night firmly in modern metalcore territory, making this an early-start, pit-ready package for fans of huge riffs and precision-heavy breakdowns.

🎸 Riot Fest 2026
📍 Douglas Park, Chicago — Friday, September 18 thru Sunday, September 20 — All Day Event
Riot Fest
is basically a three-day cheat code for punk, alternative and rock fans. Friday brings Twenty One Pilots, Iggy Pop, Rise Against, Pixies, Alkaline Trio and The All-American Rejects; Saturday stacks Tool, Morrissey, Social Distortion, Bad Religion, PUP and Thrice; and Sunday features Pierce The Veil, Alanis Morissette, Elvis Costello, Taking Back Sunday and Pennywise, among dozens more.

🎸 Tom Morello with the Ike Reilly Assassination
📍 The Rave/Eagles Ballroom, Milwaukee — Sunday, September 20 — Doors 7:00 PM, Show 8:00 PM
Tom Morello
brings his wildly inventive guitar work and politically charged rock to Milwaukee for a full-band show. The Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave guitarist is known for everything from thunderous riffs to completely unhinged guitar effects, while The Ike Reilly Assassination adds its gritty, rootsy rock edge. This show was rescheduled from May 15, with original tickets being honored.

EMERGING & LOCAL BANDS

🎸 Blades of Steel: The Final Ride – Thursday
📍 Crucible, Madison — Thursday, September 17 thru Saturday, September 19 — 3:30 PM
This isn’t just another metal show—it’s the final ride for Blades of Steel, with roughly 20 bands taking over Crucible across three days. Thursday brings Finnish folk-metal heavyweights Ensiferum, power-metal monsters Firewind, plus Lords of the Trident, Void, Phantom, Viogression, and Living Fast, covering everything from traditional and power metal to death and underground heaviness.

MORE EVENTS WORTH CHECKING OUT

🏈 JJO Wham Bam Tailgate Jam
📍 Tanner’s Bar & Grill — Saturday, September 19 — 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Get the Saturday started with Johnny & Dee and the JJO crew at Tanner’s before the Badger football action gets rolling. It’s an early-morning tailgate stop with drinks, football energy and plenty of JJO chaos to get the day moving.

BAR-HEAVY LATE-NIGHT ROUTES

  • Milwaukee road-trip play: Tuesday’s Bilmuri show gives you a reason to make the drive. Hit Landmark Credit Union Live, catch Bilmuri, Knuckle Puck and Novelists, then keep the post-show wandering minimal. One destination, big night, home safe.
  • Crucible metal marathon: Thursday through Saturday is Blades of Steel: The Final Ride, so the Crucible becomes ground zero for Madison metal. If you’re committing to the Thursday lineup, pace yourself — seven bands and a 3:30 PM start is a marathon, not a quick stop.
  • Sylvee / East Washington route: Friday brings ERRA, Vianova, Chamber and Resolve to The Sylvee. Get there early for the 6:30 show, grab your spot and build the rest of the night around the East Washington corridor instead of wasting time driving all over town.
  • Riot Fest road-trip mode: Friday through Sunday, Chicago is the big escape hatch. Three days of punk, alternative and rock means you can pick your poison each day and still barely scratch the surface. If you’re making the trip, plan around your must-see bands and embrace the chaos.
  • Saturday tailgate-to-metal route: Start the day at JJO Wham Bam Tailgate Jam at Tanner’s from 9:30–11:30 AM, then you’ve got the rest of the day before Blades of Steel rolls through its final Saturday stretch. Pace yourself — this is a long-haul rock weekend.
  • Sunday Milwaukee closer: Finish the week with Tom Morello at The Rave/Eagles Ballroom. If you’re coming off Riot Fest or three days of Blades of Steel, this is your final chance to squeeze one more massive guitar night out of the weekend.

ROCK LIFESTYLE THINGS TO DO

  • Make Monday your record-bin night. Dig through old punk, hard rock and metal, because the rest of the week gets considerably louder.
  • Tuesday: Turn Bilmuri into a proper Milwaukee road trip. Bilmuri, Knuckle Puck and Novelists gives you plenty of variety without needing to over-plan the night.
  • Thursday: Wear the comfortable boots for Blades of Steel. You’re walking into a three-day metal festival, and Thursday alone brings Ensiferum, Firewind, Lords of the Trident, Void, Phantom, Viogression and Living Fast.
  • Friday: Pick your battlefield. ERRA at The Sylvee if precision metalcore is calling your name, or Riot Fest if you want to go full festival mode with Twenty One Pilots, Iggy Pop, Rise Against, Pixies, Alkaline Trio and The All-American Rejects.
  • Saturday: Start with the JJO Wham Bam Tailgate Jam, then decide whether you’re spending the rest of the day at Blades of Steel or heading toward Chicago for another round of Riot Fest.
  • Sunday: Go for the grand finale with Tom Morello in Milwaukee, or squeeze every last drop out of Riot Fest before making the trip home.
  • Keep a recovery window open. This week’s schedule goes Bilmuri → Blades of Steel → ERRA/Riot Fest → Wham Bam → Riot Fest/Blades → Tom Morello. That’s not a calendar. That’s an endurance test.

WHERE TO GO BY NIGHT

Monday, September 14:

Recovery Night. Start the week slow. No major confirmed rock show is anchoring Monday, so use it to hit the record store, grab some food and save your energy — because the back half of this week gets stupidly busy.

Tuesday, September 15

Milwaukee Road Trip. Bilmuri – Kinda Hard Tour takes over Landmark Credit Union Live with Knuckle Puck and Novelists. Genre-blurring weirdness, melodic punk and modern metalcore make this a solid Tuesday excuse to cross the state line. Make the show the destination and don’t overcomplicate the night.

Wednesday, September 16

Take-It-Easy Night. No qualifying rock shows on the schedule tonight, so keep it low-key, grab some food, hit the jukebox, and save your energy for Thursday’s Blades of Steel metal marathon. 🤘

Thursday, September 17

Metal Takes Over Madison. Blades of Steel: The Final Ride kicks off its three-day run at Crucible with Ensiferum, Firewind, Lords of the Trident, Void, Phantom, Viogression and Living Fast. Seven bands, an early start and a whole lot of metal — settle in, because you’re not casually stopping by this one.

Friday, September 18

Pick Your Battlefield. ERRA headlines The Sylvee with Vianova, Chamber and Resolve, giving Madison a stacked night of technical and progressive metalcore. Meanwhile, Riot Fest kicks off in Chicago with Twenty One Pilots, Iggy Pop, Rise Against, Pixies, Alkaline Trio and The All-American Rejects. Madison or Chicago — either way, Friday is not for sitting at home.

Saturday, September 19

Tailgate First, Metal Later. Start your Saturday with the JJO Wham Bam Tailgate Jam at Tanner’s from 9:30–11:30 AM, then you’ve got a full day to decide how much punishment your weekend can handle. Blades of Steel wraps up its final day at Crucible, while Riot Fest rolls into Day 2 in Chicago with Tool, Morrissey, Social Distortion, Bad Religion, PUP and Thrice.

Sunday, September 20

One Last Ride. Riot Fest closes things out in Chicago with Pierce The Veil, Alanis Morissette, Elvis Costello, Taking Back Sunday and Pennywise, while Tom Morello brings his full-band show to The Rave/Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee with The Ike Reilly Assassination. If you’ve survived the rest of the week, you’ve got one final decision to make: festival finale or guitar heroics.
