OTTTO

Rockstar offspring royalty Tye Trujillo and Brock talk about how to juggle High School and home work oh...and making an album and touring! We hear about Stranger Things and Brock shows his age in Rapid Fire!

OTTTO, the Los Angeles-based trio featuring Triko Chavez (drums), Bryan Noah Ferretti (vocals/guitar) and Tye Trujillo (bass), released their debut full-length album, Life is a Game, on March 24

“The vibe of this record was getting out of our comfort zone and being free,” explains Bryan of the Tim Harkins (Korn, Jerry Cantrell) produced album. “We were opening our eyes to what could be done. There were some cool harmonies, and we focused on the overall structure. It had a constant flow.”
Tye adds: “In 2020, our self-titled album included lots of tunes we had sitting around for a few years. With this record, the experience was different. We really took the time to find a vibe for each track.”
OTTTO released their self-titled debut EP in 2020, followed by multiple live outings, including slots at Lollapalooza and Bottle Rock, opened for Suicidal Tendencies, and saw Tye contribute the guitar parts for cultural phenomenon, Eddie Munson in “Stranger Things.” Most recently, the band issued the Record Store Day exclusive EP, Locos Live In Venice, which was recorded at the venerable Juice Magazine headquarters, right off of the Venice Beach boardwalk.
The band returns to the road this Spring, with several festival outings including Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival.

Rival Sons

Big Duck Energy. What the hell would make you want to release not one, but two albums in one year? Brock talks to Jay from Rival sons about what the motivation was and of course another round of rapid fire on this Discover New Music.

About Rival Sons:

Rival Sons - Jay Buchanan [vocals, harmonica, rhythm guitar], Scott Holiday [lead guitar], Mike Miley [drums], and Dave Beste [bass] - play rock ‘n’ roll in its purest form without apology or pretense. Instead, they simply plug in, turn up, and rip on a path of their own. Along the way, they’ve architected a critically acclaimed catalog, including Pressure & Time [2011], Head Down [2012], Great Western Valkyrie [2014], Hollow Bones [2016], and FERAL ROOTS [2019]. The latter represented a creative and critical high watermark, scoring a pair of GRAMMY® Award nominations in the categories of “Best Rock Album” and “Best Rock Performance” for the single “Too Bad.” Elevating the band to another level, “Do Your Worst” vaulted to #1 at Rock Radio as their biggest hit to date, tallying north of 60 million streams and counting. Speaking to their impact, Rolling Stone attested, “Rival Sons have done their part to introduce new fans to rock.” Beyond sharing stages with everyone from Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, and AC/DC to Guns N’ Roses and Lenny Kravitz, they’ve ignited television shows such as The Late Late Show with James Corden. During 2021, they launched their own label Sacred Tongue Recordings distributed by Thirty Tigers and celebrated the tenth anniversary of Pressure & Time by performing the album in its entirety on tour. Ultimately, Rival Sons aren’t here to tell you exactly what to think or what to feel, but they’ll give you one hell of a ride if you let them. That ride twists and turns like never before on their 2023 full-length LP, DARKFIGHTER [Low Country Sound / Atlantic Records] kickstarted by the single “Nobody Wants to Die.”

"I do these releases as a labor of love and because it's an opportunity to explore some new ground."

Godsmack

Turtles, Koi Fish and Swan songs are just a few of the topics covered by dummer extraordinaire Shannon Larkin in this episode. Plus, Brock takes a deeper dive into the latest Godsmack release "Light Up The Sky" as well as trip  down memory lane.  If that's not enough, Shannon lets a few surprise cats outta the bag.

Multi-platinum Grammy-nominated hard rock band GODSMACK have officially announced details for their forthcoming eighth studio album Lighting Up The Sky, which will be out February 24, 2023 via BMG. The album follows the band’s globally acclaimed & gold-certified 2018 release, When Legends Rise, which achieved four No.1 singles back-to-back.

Co-produced by vocalist/guitarist Sully Erna and Andrew “Mudrock” Murdock (Avenged Sevenfold, Alice Cooper), Lighting Up the Sky is a testament to powerful storytelling. “I like when a record takes you on a journey from front to back. I realized there’s a whole story here about one man’s journey, the ups, and downs,” says Erna. “I believe it’s a story everyone will connect to, on a human level, because we’ve all gone through things in life.” The album explores boy-meets-girl, obstacles in relationships, the polarized political climate and the state of the world, betrayal, connection, rebounds, and more. It also gets into the idea of legacy, what we leave behind; fitting for what Erna has noted as their final studio album.

LIGHTING UP THE SKY TRACK LISTING

  1. You And I
  2. Red White & Blue
  3. Surrender
  4. What About Me
  5. Truth
  6. Hell’s Not Dead
  7. Soul On Fire

New Linkin Park Song!

LINKIN PARK

ANNOUNCE METEORA 20th ANNIVERSARY EDITION OUT APRIL 7TH

INCLUDES NEVER-BEFORE-HEARD NEW MUSIC WITH ORIGINAL VOCALS

BY THE LATE CHESTER BENNINGTON

LINKIN PARK will celebrate two decades of their GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum landmark sophomore LP, Meteora, with Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition, arriving on April 7, 2023. It will be available in various configurations, including a Limited Edition Super Deluxe Box Set, Deluxe Vinyl Box Set, Deluxe 3-CD, and Digital Download.

The highlight of the collection was unearthed as the band was digging through hard drives for what would become the Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition: a complete and mixed, yet forgotten, song from this era, appropriately entitled “Lost.”

Mike Shinoda says, “Finding this track was like finding a favorite photo you had forgotten you’d taken, like it was waiting for the right moment to reveal itself. For years, fans have been asking us to release something with Chester’s voice, and I’m thrilled we’ve been able to make that happen in such a special way. I think they’re going to be floored when they hear and see all the incredible unreleased songs and video footage in METEORA|20."

Meteora originally landed on March 25, 2003. It bowed at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 before going 7x-platinum in the U.S., moving 27 million units worldwide, and earning platinum or gold certifications in 15 countries. Among many classic cuts, “Numb” has eclipsed 1 Billion Spotify streams and 1.8 Billion YouTube views on its music video. “Session” notably scored a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Rock Instrumental Performance.” In writing about MeteoraRolling Stone highlighted how LINKIN PARK make some risky, beautiful art.” Retrospectively, Metal Hammer christened it “a modern rock classic,” and KERRANG! proclaimed, “Only a handful of bands can say their second album came anywhere close to the success of their smash debut. LINKIN PARK not only accomplished this, but they also put out a second album that was by all intents and purposes a better record than their first.”

2020 saw LINKIN PARK leap back to the forefront of popular culture with Hybrid Theory20th Anniversary Edition. Scaling the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart, it captured #3—its highest chart position since 2002. Now, they’ve revisited its iconic follow-up…Experience the definitive vision of Meteora from LINKIN PARK in 2023.

ABOUT LINKIN PARK:
LINKIN PARK emerged as an innovative musical force and one of the best-selling artists of the last twenty years. Their RIAA Diamond-certified full-length debut, Hybrid Theory, stands out as the “best-selling debut of the 21st century” with US sales in excess of 11 million and worldwide sales over 55 million. Among numerous accolades and honors, they have garnered 2 GRAMMY® Awards, 5 American Music Awards, 4 MTV VMA Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and 3 World Music Awards. Selling out stadiums worldwide, they’ve headlined global music festivals such as Download and Reading & Leeds in the UK, Rock in Rio in Portugal, and Summer Sonic in Japan. They also remain the first and only Western rock band to play a five-stadium tour in China. Most recently, 2017’s gold-certified One More Light marked their fifth #1 debut on the Billboard 200.

Pierce The Veil

New baby on the way, new music out on his birthday.  That's what the first couple of weeks of February look like for  Vic Fuentes.   He even found time to talk to Brock about their long awaited new release "Jaws Of Life."   From the full on pedal to the floor "Pass The Nirvana" to the kinder gentler "Emergency Contact" Vic discusses how each album and each song is snapshot of a moment in time.  Wonder what is in the bottom of that garage freezer?  Does wearing soggy socks suck?  These and many other questions will be answered on this episode of DNM
.

"'Pass the Nirvana' is about the many horrible traumas that the youth of America have endured over the past few years," says frontman Vic Fuentes about the song's powerful, relatable, and topical subject matter. "COVID, no proms, no graduations, an insurrection, school shootings. The list goes on. Their lives have been tossed around like clothes in a dryer, as the tensions within our country have infiltrated our own homes, friends, and families. To me, the song represents a euphoric detachment from all of that anxiety and stress and about finding some form of peace or nirvana."

Right now, Pierce the Veil are at their most raw, crackling with urgency and immediacy. Never predictable, always engaging, Pierce the Veil continue to soar on the strength of highly potent energy, rich musicality, and a scrappy sense of authentic exuberant ambition that's frankly unrivaled. The aforementioned Fuentes, guitarist Tony Perry, and bassist Jaime Precadio put volatile, angsty, confessional emotions into the music, which is why their songs resonate with so many. "No matter where the band performs, fans will show up," wrote Loudwire. "When you see Pierce The Veil live, you'll understand why."

PTV's evolution from album to album is nothing less than stunning. The early buzz generated by A Flair for the Dramatic (2007) made its follow-up one of the most anticipated albums of 2010. Selfish Machines shot to No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The Chicago Tribune saluted Collide with the Sky for its "post-hardcore punk with more than a few nods to Queen." They became a true arena act on Misadventures, selling out huge venues without losing the intimate connection with their fans.

Pierce the Veil have long cemented their status as one of the most exciting and relevant acts in their genre — by constantly evolving.

Architects

Lead Singer Sam Carter joins Brock to discuss the bands 10th studio album "The Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit."  Are they just beating the devil around the gooseberry bush?  Listening to this episode will not only prove that to you, you will actually find out what the hell that even means.  As well as how proud Sam is of the growth on this new record and the track he knew would get a great response the minute they got done writing it.

the classic symptoms of a broken spirit will be the band’s 10th studio album and is the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed album For Those That Wish To Exist.  The band barely had time to celebrate success when they began the process of writing the songs that make up the new record.  Produced by Dan Searle and Josh Middleton, with additional production from Sam Carter at Deacon’s Middle Farm Studios and their own HQ, Electric Studios in Brighton. The band were buoyed by finally being back in the room together after their last album was made mostly remote due to COVID restrictions, the result was something altogether more “free, playful and spontaneous” the bands drummer and songwriter Dan explains. “This one feels more live, more exciting and more fun – it has that energy. We wanted it to be a lot more industrial and electronic,” agrees frontman Sam Carter.

Layers of electronic and industrial elements infuse the album with a blast of energy that sets the cinematic moodscape for the 11-track ride. There is more than a passing nod to the band’s post-rock influences as well as now familiar fist pumping anthems such as when we were young”, and lead single “tear gas”, an arena ready anthem packed with industrial stomp.
